Summary: Cytauxzoonosis is reported for the first time in a giraffe that died naturally of the disease. Both histiotropic and erythrocytic parasites were found. The most significant lesions were disseminated foci of haemorrhage and necrosis, especially in the liver, spleen and abomasum
