Summary: Phalacrocorax africanus coronatus nests commonly underneath the Walvis Bay guano platform on Bird Rock, preferring the sheltered landward side. Breeding has been confirmed from December to April and probably takes place throughout the year. A total of 104 nests, of which 37 were occupied, existed in January 1973. Comparison is made between the nests and nesting sites of Phalacrocorax africanus coronatus and Phalacrocorax africanus africanus
