Summary: The Late Proterozoic Khomas Trough comprises metasedimentary and metabasic rocks of the Kuiseb Formation and its evolution plays an important role in the understanding of the Damaran orogenic belt as a whole. This study attempts to characterize the metasedimentary and metabasic rocks encountered by means of sedimentological, structural, petrographic, mineralogical and geochemical methods. This leads to the modelling of the geotectonic ecolution of the Khomas Trough with particular focus on the sedimentary palaeoenvironments and the structural evolution of this area during the Pan-African orogeny in Namibia
