Khoekhoen place names are among the oldest in the country. By studying the lexical meanings of Khoekhoen place names it is possible to establish dominant toponymical motives. Analysis of the names also reveal various linguistic tendencies, for example the variability of consonants under certain conditions, employment of locative morphemes and the like
