Summary: Faidherbia albida and Acacia erioloba are important fodder trees for the livestock of local farmers and wildlife along ephemeral rivers of the Namib Desert. In this study, the regeneration processes of the two tree species and their utilization by local resource users was studied in the ephemeral rivers Kuiseb, Omaruru and Ugab and this study shows that the successful regeneration of the two trees in the ephemeral rivers of Namibia is threatedut by increasing land-use intensity. The growing threat to the tree population through reduced tree regeneration will limit the livelihoods of the local farmers in the future
