Summary: The pipe deposits of Southern Africa are classified according to environment as plutonic, volcanic, hydrothermal and supergene. In this publication special references are made to Namibia on pipes of the plutonic environment under which the iron ore pipe at Kalkfeld is classified. The Kimberlite pipes are of vulcanic environment. Tsumeb and Arandis are pipes of the hydrothermal environment and pipes of the supergene environment are the vanadium deposits of the Otavi Highlands
