Mining is one of the most important economical corner stones of Namibia. Minerals helped extensively in the form of foreign currency with which the infrastructure was developed. Fifty percent of all exports and also of the revenue eardut by the government are derived from minerals. In addition mining is an important job provider in the country. Diamonds are the most important commodity of Namibia. Today also a fleet of 10 ships are envolved to mine sea diamonds. Namibias oldest mine, the Matchless Koper Mine, was opedut in 1850. In the mean time is exploration carried out on a large scale and the Scorpion zinc mine is the latest evidence in the mining sector activities
