Summary: Short overview of the development of maps on Namibia since 1750. Carel Frederick Brink, Richter and Theophilus Hahn were the early cartographers. During German colonial times the first accurate maps were compilled of the whole territory. By 1927 the first British maps were printed through the Survey General's Office in Windhoek. Since 1966 decided the Directorate General of Surveys of the Republic of South Africa to produce a modern topographic maps which are still in use. Luxemburg is now assisting in updating existing maps
