The part of Great Namaqualand under review is occupied mainly by pre- Cambrian gneiss, sedimentary rocks of pre- Nama age, the Nama system, and igneous rocks of widely differing age. In this report it is proposed in the first place to give a brief account of the geology of this part of South- West Africa, and then to treat separately of the several tectonic regions, under the following headings: The Wittpuetz Trough, the Folded Belt along the Coast, the Block-faulted Zones, the Aus- Luederitzbucht Gneiss Horst and the Koichab and other tectonic troughs
