For tree lovers the B8 between Grootfontein and Rundu is a most interesting stretch of road. About 230 kilometres south of Rundu, the road passes a dolomite hill where there are a number of camel-thorn trees and the first occurence of muparara (Peltophorum africanum) and the Kalahari apple leaf or Kalahari omupanda (Philenoptera nelsii, formerly Lonchocarpus nelsii), both of which like to grow on sandy soil and will be seen repeatedly along the way
