Summary: Since the discovery in 1922 of the long lost manuscript of Simon van der Stel's journal of his expedition to Namaqualand by the late Professor Gilbert Waterhouse, former Professor of German at the University of Dublin and the Queen's University, Belfast, it had been hoped that the drawings accompanying the manuscript and attributed to Heinrich Claudius could be published in full colour.
