Investigations have revealed that the first Simmentaler animal exported from the Euro-Asiatic Continent in 1893, was shipped to the then Deutsch Südwestafrika, after 1914 known as South West Africa, and since independence in 1990, as Namibia. Furthermore, the Simmentaler has proved itself to be the only Bos Taurus breed that with the years has successfully adapted itself to the harsh Namibian environment.
