Summary: As Namibian history is unfortunately often used to underscore racist reasoning and ethnic stereotyping, one of the main aims of this course material is to question this problem. In order to assist students in gaining an understanding of this problem, the approach of a teacher carries a twofold responsibility: to deal explicitly with racism in an empathic way: and to ensure that pupils understand that history cannot be used for the purpose of denigration or exculpation.
