In the central desert on the Namib plain near Wlotzkas Baken, the area of the study. an unique vegetation community can be found. This community is made up of lichens, a result of a symbiotic relationship between algae and fungi. The aim of the study was to identify the type of community by analising its species composition and quantitative characteristics. Species composition and quantitative characteristics were used, as they have become valuable measures in vegetation community surveys.
