The objective of this study is to focus on the economic viability and the benefits resulting from using blended surface and reclaimed water to recharge the Windhoek aquifer. The value and benefits of implementing an artificial recharge scheme was compared with other water supply options to the city. The study addressed the cost of supply and the value of security of supply, which is increased by "banking" water underground.
