In all small stock farming operations, the primary product is meat or mutton, excepts in the case of karakul farming. The farmer produces meat for the local market in Namibia (butchers) as well a for export markets like South Africa. Goats are kept mainly for meat production and as such they have played an important role in the meat trade.
