Summary: Alien invasive plants are found in many of our ephemeral rivers. Often considered a pest, Topnaar farmers living along the Kuiseb river have not only learnt to live with them, but make use of them. Of the common plants in the area are Ricinus communis (Castor bean), Nicotiana glauca (Wild tobacco) and Datura innoxia (Blouhaak deksel)
