The Victoria Lake, which is bordered by Uganda, Kenia and Tansania has been also threatedut lately by the Salvinia molesta plant as is the case at Lake Kariba. This plant was originally imported from the Amazonas from Brazil. To minimize polution in the lake it has been suggested to plant trees around the Lake Victoria to stem the inflow of nitrogen and sediments containing phosphates from the surrounding country. Thereby the main food chain of the Salvinia molesta would be interrupted
