Summary: A chromosome preparation technique has been developed over several years for use primarily with birds. The technique is similar to others in general use, being based essentially on the methods of Ohno and Shoffner. Modifications were developed specifically for use under 'field laboratory' conditions, with a minimum of steps and apparatus, including the option of using biopsy material without cell culture
