Summary: Species lists and their habitat occurence are presented for 199 plants, 1 fish, 2 frogs, 53 reptiles, 195 birds and 44 mammals recorded in the central Namib desert in the vicinity of Gobabeb. While parts of the fauna and flora are supported by the linear oasis of the ephemeral Kuiseb river, notably, several plants, reptiles, birds and mammals are endemic to the Namib desert, making this an area of special conservation and research priority
