Summary: Seaweeds and their economic importance for Namibia has been proven again with the production of a new rage of beauty products being produced in Namibia. From the Benguela ecosystem with its rich clean nutrient waters the source harvested are the Laminaria and Gracilaria algae. In 1998 Volker Heitland of Heitland & PETre International visited Namibia and in co-operation with Taurus Products in Luderitz started to manufacture in a joint venture. Ingo and Sabine Stritter are marketing the products in Southern Africa
