Summary: During December 2001 a Marico flycatcher nest was found in a black thorn, Acacia mellifera, on the farm Krumhuk. It is reasonable to assume that the adult birds used this smaller shrub with its thorn for protection in comparisson to higher acacia trees nearby. It was recommended that more attention should be given to habitat information in nest records
