Summary: German Schutztruppe were statiodut at Kuring-Kuru before the First World War. Opposite the Okawango River was the Portuguese police station Cuangar. At Cuangar did the Portuguese authorities erect a monument on 28.5.1950 with the following inscription translated: Hier ruhen die sterblichen Reste der Opfer des Überfalls das an dieser Stätte am Morgen des 31. Oktober 1914 stattfand, dem Portugiesen und Afrikaner zum Opfer fielen. This attack was in consequence on the murder of Germans by Portuguese soldiers near Naulila
