Summary: The catholic church developed from its start in Windhoek in 1896 into a large congregation, consisting today of 300 000 catholics in Namibia. In the south they started on the farm Heirachabis in December 1896. It was only in 1910 that a mission was was founded at Nyangana and Andara in 1913. During 1927 a plane was obtaidut, from Miva, known as "der Fliegende Pater", by which travelling to the northern mission stations was far easier than by gravel road. Today the catholic church is spread all over the country and contributs considerable to education and medical care. Since 1977 all citicens were treated equaly and the church supported the freedom struggle
