With independence Namibia had an exellent infrastructure in the white dominated areas but socio-economic development in the rural areas was poor. Education was on a very poor standard amongst rural communities. Main aims of the new government were to concentrate mainly on education, health care and social services, housing, water supply, agriculture, medium production enterprises and the fishing sector. Development programmes were strongly supported by B MZ, G TZ and K F W from DE. Other countries also assisted on many other sectors to create a road for upliftment of the population. From development aid figures released it is noticable that DE was to date the largest contributer of funds to Namibia
