Summary: Evidence is provided from sedimentary analysis of dune sands and surface materials in the Tanezrouft and Tidikelt that the isolated dunes in the Tanezrouft are of late Pleistocene and local origin, that the sands were derived from an allivial Hoggar fan and that after dune formation there was not much aeolian activity
