This article deals with the Postal History of South West Africa from 1806 until 1888. Some pre-stamp period covers are shown, and in general interesting original research introduces the reader in the mission mail services and general difficulties travelers, traders and pioneers experienced in despatching and receiving mail in the territory. On 16 July 1888 the first official Post Office was opedut in Otyimbingue by police sergeant Hugo von Goldammer.
