<br/><br/>  Interesting to note that during 1984 it was still mentiodut that Namibia only had two important wetlands along the entire Namibian coast. Under the Ramsar Convention Namibia has already (2005) four internationally recognized wetlands. Great concern was expressed over the Walvis  Bay Wetland due to the activities by the saltworks and associated roads, restricting the cleansing, selfdredging tidal flow in the lagoon with the result that it is silting up. A bird count list was compiled and the seabirds discussed in their habitat
