Descriptions and illustrations appearing in subsequent publications differ substantially from the original diagnosis, and plants collected at the type locality did not conform to any of the published descriptions. Correspondence has been made available, reveals quite clearly that the type locality of L. gulielmi L. Bol. was confused with that of L. fossulifera Tisch. nom. nud., and there is evidence also that plants from the two localities were distributed under interchanged labels
