Geomorphic features in the river valleys of the northern Namib Desert bear abundant evidence of past climatic changes. The Hoanib River terraces are especially highly impresive as three distinct stages of more rainfall than at present can be observed. River silt deposits in the Hoarusib and Hoanib again also provide evidence of two more arid stages in the hinterland as can be noticed at the Clay Castles and the Amspoort silts in the Hoanib River not far from the Skeleton Coast Park boarder
